Social Media Block in Pakistan

Soical Media temporary blocked after arrest Ex PM Imran Khan

Following Imran Khan's arrest as the leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), social media sites including Facebook, YouTube, and Twitter have been blocked nationwide in Pakistan. Internet access has also been halted in several locations.

Government sources verified that social media networks had been temporarily shut down to halt the misinformation. Furthermore, internet access was cut off in a number of Pakistani cities, including Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, and others.

Following Imran Khan's detention in the Al-Qadir Trust corruption case, protests broke out all throughout the nation.

In a pertinent development, the Punjab Home Department's Additional Chief Secretary reported that Rangers contingents had been called to Lahore and that higher authorities had instructed mobile phone services to be suspended.

Khan's warrants were issued on May 1 by Lt Gen (retd) Nazir Ahmad Butt, the NAB chairman, according to the NAB notification.

Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah said on Twitter that Imran has ignored many court summonses despite being served with them during the investigation.

The public Accountability Bureau "conducted the arrest for causing losses to the national treasury," he claimed.

The interior minister declared in a media release that "after having concrete evidence [against Imran Khan], there is no need to hold a thorough investigation." According to the Al-Qadir Trust case, Rs. 50 billion was stolen.

Protest from the PTI Supporters

After Imran Khan was taken into custody, protests broke out. His backers have been demanding his release, which has resulted in conflicts with law authorities in many locations.

The government is taking action to ensure law and order while the situation remains heated.

While demonstrators stopped highways in the capital Islamabad, Peshawar, and other places, police in Karachi and Lahore fired tear gas and water cannon to scatter Khan supporters.
