A Pakistani media report has claimed that if the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) does not agree to play the Asia Cup at a neutral venue, then the hosting of the tournament can be withdrawn from the country. PCB holds the rights to host the 2023 Asia Cup in the ODI format, but Indian cricket board BCCI secretary and ACC president Jay Shah has made it clear that the Indian cricket team will not go to Pakistan.

year's Asian event. According to
the report, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka have agreed to hold the
event in the island nation and have backed India's position on the issue. By
the end of this month, a decision will be made with certainty.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) may not play in the
tournament this year as a result of the Asia Cup's relocation. PCB had already
proposed a hybrid hosting strategy for the Asia Cup, under which just the
matches involving India would take place in Dubai.
However, the BCCI refused to endorse this strategy, citing
broadcasters' and member boards' worries. Additionally, the boards are hesitant
to play in the sweltering United Arab Emirates (UAE).
